34 Years of Rotary Youth Exchange…

Rotary Youth Exchange is hosting 23 inbound students this year. They are from: France, Bolivia, Brazil, Czech Republic., Taiwan, Denmark, Austria, Mexico, Germany, Switzerland, Ecuador, Turkey, Belgium, Poland, Chile and Slovakia

Our club is hosting Andre Brandao from Brazil. The Red Rocks Club is hosting Lina from Switzerland.  Lina is involved in swimming now and went to her first high school football game at SRRHS

Rotary Youth Exchange became an official club activity in 1974.  Its purpose is to advance international understanding, goodwill and peace.  Youth exchange provides young people the opportunity to meet people from other lands and to experience their culture, thus planting the seeds for a lifetime of international understanding.  The students are in the USA for the entire school year and attend many group activities.

This year’s events include: camping in October, Grand Canyon in December, RYLA in January, Rotary District Conference in May and at the end of the year, the month long USA Summer tour.

Rotary in Sedona has a support group for the youth exchange students that includes the other youth exchange students, the Youth Exchange Committee and the Rotary Clubs hosts and counselors: Catherine Moore, Renata Barnwell, Miki Dzugan, Kathy Gorchesky, John Bradshaw and Tony Hauserman.
