The Northern Arizona Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals honored the Rotary Club of Sedona as the Outstanding Nonprofit Organization at its annual Philanthropy Day Award ceremony. Linda Clark, a member of the Association who had nominated the Rotary Club, was on hand to present the award. Among other community services, she cited the Imagination Library project, a literacy program, which mails books monthly to preschool children under the age of 5 in Sedona. She also highlighted the Slide Fire photo exhibit, which raised money to abate the post-fire ecological damage from the Slide Fire and to provide training for forest fire fighters.

Club President David Simmer was ill and not available to come to the award ceremony. Club Past President, Miki Dzugan, accepted the award on behalf of the club. Miki noted that David had initiated both the Imagination Library and the Slide Fire Exhibit, so it would have been particularly appropriate for him to receive the award.
